My grandfather’s life and heritage was a big part of the inspiration behind Markham. I don’t think I would have become the storyteller I am without his guidance. When doing voice work for the podnovel, I watched as many movies I could with Irish accents ~ Far and Away, Matchmaker, even Back to the Future IV. And even so my accent was horrible. I still expect a gang of angry Irishmen to knock on my door, torches blazing, chanting, “String the Lass up!” This little manga art shows how Jimmy might perceive Markham in a sarcastic, jovial kind of mood.
